The End Of The Blog Journey

Hello readers! this is the end of my blog journey. My blogs contained a handful of information about the social media marketing world and I hope that some of if not all could take something out of these blogs.

Throughout my blogs I have highlighted a few importance of social media marketing and how to use it to gain more engagement and profit from social media. Starting off with the top 3 Social media platform best for promoting businesses, where I talked about Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. My personal favourite is Instagram, thus I focused more on that with my other blogs.

My personal favourite blog to work on was analysing Love, Stephy Dessert Café. For this post I worked on real life business’s social media and gained knowledge about how they engage with their audience and what type of content strategy they use and what the business should focus on more.

My last two post were about using Instagram effectively to promote your music and using Instagram story to engage with your audience. Both of the posts contained tips and tricks you can use to promote your business.

Using Instagram Story to Engage With Your Audience

Instagram stories provide you with a unique and new way to engage with your audience and to find out what kind of content they prefer from you. If you have read my last post about promoting music on Instagram then this blog is basically the cherry on top for promoting on Instagram.  Here are some of the Instagram story tools you can use to engage with your audience.

Polls

Polls are one of the easiest ways to grab your audience’s attention and hear directly from them about what they prefer. Instagram has 2 types of story polls: a customised answer poll, and an emoji slider. In customised story polls you can ask any questions and then give your audience a choice of 2 different answers. At the end you get your feedback through what percentage of people said yes or no for example.

Reposting

Reposting is another way of staying connected to your existing audience. In my previous blog I talked about musician promoting music on Instagram. Musician use this feature really well by reposting their follower’s story, which encourages their existing followers to post the musician’s  content on their story so they can be featured on the musician’s story.

Fateh Doe a Canadian rapper who just realised a new album. He has been super engaging with his audience while also promoting his album. He has been reposting his follower’s posts about his album which keeps his followers talking about his album.

Story Advertisement

Story advertisement is one of the new features for businesses which stays up for 24 hours and provides a way to quickly introduce your product/service. With the introduction of calls to action, you can now have customers swipe up and jump straight to your store.  In the post below, Troy Sivan an Australian singer advertised his tour to Australia and New Zealand as an story as well, giving out the basic information needed for the tour as well as giving the opportunity for the people who have not bought the tickets yet to buy it on cheaper price. The advertisement contained a background song by Troy Sivan called “My My My”, which has around 49 million views on YouTube. This gives his tour more audience that are from the song.

Promoting Music on Instagram

In 2019, “views” have become the 2nd currency in the music industry. Success on Instagram really comes down to sharing valuable content your fans will love. If you are wondering how to promote your music with Instagram, here are couple of tips and tricks musicians are currently using.

Having Good Visuals

Instagram is all about having visually pleasing content. This might come obvious to everyone, but musicians seem to put their focus more on just putting their music out there. It is not necessary to invest in high end equipment to make your posts look amazing, in fact for social media purposes research has shown that a basic smartphone camera can outperform the top end equipment.

Before investing your hard money on promoting your music video as an Instagram ad make sure the advertisement has some sort of visual attraction such as quick snaps of your music video that would make people stop and take notice of your ad. Don’t forget that people scroll their feed with the sound off by default, so I recommend subtitling your videos before posting them so people can follow along even if they have their sound off. In this case you also want to make sure you advertise the best lyrics from your song, which will entice people in listening to the entire song.

Engaging with your existing followers.

There is a well-known topic in marketing called Social Proofing, which means if people see others following or engaging with something, they are likely to feel reassured that they are making the right decision by following or even sharing your content. A lot of artist now a days spend their time trying to gain new followers rather than cherishing their existing followers. Be more engaged with your followers and try to interact with them in comments or through your posts.

Above is an example of how Fateh Doe (Canadian rapper) built engagement with his followers and got them to comment on his post. This makes the followers feel like a part of the ‘conversation’ as well as letting them take the control over his content schedule,

On average Fateh gets around 100 comments on a normal post. On posts that are more engaging, such as the one above, he gets a lot more engagement from his audience. Analysing his Instagram he seems to get most engagement from his music, i.e. A music consent, a new album release or posts where he asks his audience to guess the names of other singers that are featured in his upcoming album and whoever guesses it right gets some sort of reward. The curiosity keeps his audience engaged on his posts. He seems to know his audience well enough and continues to use all the marketing strategies that works well for his audience.

Analysing Love, Stephy Dessert Café’s Instagram.

If you live in Adelaide you must have heard or even seen Instagram ads for Love, Stephy Dessert Café. It is a newly opened Café down Hindley Street, flashing love with their blazing pink that covers every surface of the café. What makes this café so special to become Glam Adelaide’s topic of the week?

The café has been in the making for almost two years, which can be seen in their detailed decorations into every piece of the venue with lights streaming through windows and flowers pressed into the walls giving us a classy romantic feeling.

Engaging with audience

Trust and credibility are essential for a successful business, so to build trust, you must engage with your audience. This will also helps identify the type of content your audience wants to see or the queries they have about your business. Love, Stephy Café have been very engaging with their audience as they make sure to respond to any questions asked related to the business and frequently reposting their content on Instagram stories.

In this post, the cafe has responded to its audience to clear out some queries about the business’s opening hours, showing their positive engagement with the audience.

Content Strategy

It is important for a business to measure their success and to know what type of content is getting the most amount of engagement. Love, Stephy’s content on Instagram is mostly about the food they sell, which is what every other cafe industries do to attract engagement. It is essential for the business to be aware of their competitions. However, observing their Instagram content I found that their posts of the venue gets more engagement than their food content. Taking that into account they should advertise their venue more to reach their potential customers or build a strategy to get more engagement on their food content.

Top 3 Social Media Platform Best For Promoting Businesses

We are all aware of the fact that Social Media has officially taken over the world today as research shows that on average one person spends at least 2 or more hours online. As business you should spend some time to check out what platform works best for your business. For marketing purposes you should have the knowledge of the platform your consumers are spending most of their time on.

According to Civic web media, Facebook is the most used social media platform used in Australia with 2,230,000,000 active monthly users. This means your business would have a higher chance of reaching customers. Starbucks is one of the businesses that have most number of followers on Facebook with 35million, it would be ideal for Starbucks to engage with their Facebook audience more than other platform audience as it will clearly reach out to more people.

The 2nd most used platform is YouTube. More than half of the population watches YouTube videos. Many YouTube users are visitors, meaning they don’t have an official account on it. This makes a lot people to engage with YouTube without having to put the time and energy to create an account. Videos can be the most engaging type of content for consumers, however most of the businesses are hesitant to produce video content since it is time consuming and needs a lot of effort put in to make it look professional. T-series, a popular Indian music company with more than 100 million subscribers. It is obvious that YouTube would be the best way to get the most amount of engagement, especially since their main and only content are videos.

Lastly Instagram is the best image sharing platform for the businesses that want to attract their customer through the visual representation, e.g. clothing brands or skincare and beauty brands. Chanel for examples is one of the most followed brands on Instagram. They upload daily to keep their customers engaged.

You should choose your social media platform depending on the kind of business you have. If its clothing or beauty products for example it would be best to focus more on your Instagram and Facebook audience, where you can attract your targeted audience through the visual quality of your product. If you are a music or film producer, then it would be best for you to engage with your YouTube audience more. However, to get the most amount of engagement from your consumers you should keep promoting all your social media platform.
